United Nations General Assembly votes in favor of the internationalization of Jerusalem.

David Ben-Gurion's government declares Jerusalem the «Eternal Capital of Israel».

May 11th: Israel becomes the 59th member of the United Nations.

Foundation of the Weizmann Institute in Rehovot.

Jerusalem is divided up between Israel and Jordan. Israel checks the western and southern districts, Jordan for the oldtown and Eastern Jerusalem.

Theodor Herzls's mortal remains are convicted to Jerusalem and buried at the Herzlhill from Vienna.
