1890 - 1899
1890- 1891 Large wave of Jews arrives from Russia.
1894- 1895 Captain Alfred Dreyfus, falsely charged with espionage in a show trial in Paris. The trial inspires Theodor Herzl to write a book a year later.
1896 Theodor Herzl: writes «Der Judenstaat» - «The Jewish State» and calls for the creation of a Jewish State.
1897 Basle, August 29-31, First International Zionist Congress. The Basle declaration [Zionist platform]: «Zionism seeks for the Jewish people a publicly recognized legally secured homeland in Palestine.»
The World Zionist Organization is created.
