On the 3rd October, 2009 the long desired 2 day hike on the Greina Plateau started in Vrin for Stefan, Martin, Oli, Stan and me.
|
The municipality lies at the very back in Val Lumnezia (valley of the light) on 1448m AMSL. Typically for Vrin are the intact view of a place and the architecture of Gion A. Caminada. In 1998 Vrin received the Wakker Prize for the exemplary integration of agricultural buildings.

After fine dinner, a round Brandi Dog and several written postcards - amongst others to Alex which must remain ill at home - we lay down to the rest.

Campo & Olivone was a municipality in the district of Blenio in the canton of Ticino in Switzerland. On 25 January 2005, the cantonal authorities announced that they would merge with Aquila, Ghirone and Torre to form a new municipality to be called Blenio. This union was carried through on 22 October 2006.

The sediments of the old sea deposited on the hard primary rocks (granite/gneiss) of the Gotthard massif, were compressed and partially pushed in the vertical. After the area in perm (290 - 250 Mil. years) was put out to a rough wild climate, a sea in which carbonate-containing sediments deposited once more formed in the trias (250 - 200 Mil. years) again. In particular in the area of the Crap la Crusch and near the Passo della Greina the trias sediments step as a limestone range, to one ring weathering mixture from dolostone and limestone, spectacularly to the surface. An other sediment education followed during the jurassic (200-145,5 Mil. years). They form, e.g., the big slate fields of the Pizzo Coroi (2785 m). The last dramatic reorganisation of the rocks began in the tertiary before 65 million years with to him pile up about one another and on bolt to the alpine mountains. The folding formations in a very much complex manner were anew ordered by these reorganisations.
