Israel for the first time is present at Olympic Games. 26 Israeli athletes travel to Helsinki.    

After the end of the second World War, Jewish leaders of Germany reparations payments had demanded for the material damages which had been damaged to the Jewish people. Germany expressed his readiness in September 1951 to make these payments. Israel is split and debated, whether the payments shall be assumed. Prime Minister David Ben-Gurion argues the money is necessary to integrate the immigrants. The opposition (Menachem Begin) declines the supposition. The Knesset finally decides to take with Germany negotiations, which start in March 1952 in Den Hague and last till September. The conversations end, on September 10th, 1952, with the signing of an agreement in Luxembourg by Federal Chancellors Konrad Adenauer, Secretary of State Moshe Sharett and Nachum Goldmann the president of the Jewish Claims Conference (JCC). Germany becomes pays 750 million dollars to Israel and 125 million to the Claims Conference.
