The Kasztner Prozess comes to an end in Jerusalem. Dr. Israel Kasztner, during the second World War member of a Jewish rescue committee of Budapest is accused of the collaboration with the Nazis. Kasztner is the victim of an assassination in 1957. The supreme court of justice cancels the verdict a year later: Kasztner wasn't a collaborator.
Oil is found in Heletz in the south of the country.
