The flat valley floor of the Haslital is separated by a transverse rock formation called the «Kirchet». It lies between Meiringen and Innertkirchen. The Aare River eroded this rock to a gorge which is 1400 metres long and up to 180 metres deep. This gorge has been accessible for over 100 years by a system of safe paths.
