.01 February 6th: Ariel Sharon of the Likud-Block wins the special elections to the Prime Minister in a landslide victory with 62.4 percent of the voices.
.05 May 4th: The Mitchell-Report are submit to Israel and the Palestinians. They were stating in a key place of the report, that an end isn't possible for the terror force, without the «freeze all settlement activities, inclusive of the 'natural growth'». This led to intense discussions in the Israeli government. While Shimon Peres was describing the report as «fair and balanced», secretary president Sharon could get hardly something good for the report.
May 21st: In response to an alone assassination attempt in Netanya for the first time Israeli F-16-fightbombers fly attacks on aims in Palestinian towns in West Jordan Areas and in the Gazastrip.
May 24th: At the collapse of the bottom of a hall in Jerusalem 23 participants of a wedding party are killed. About 350 are hurt.
.06 June 1st: In a pleasure district of Tel Aviv A Palestinian suicideassassin blows himself up. 20 persons, mostly young people, find the death. Being hurt over 100. «Al-Aksa Brigades» confess the attack, it is her first public appearance.
June 12th: With his plan mnages the American mediators' George Tenet a temporary ceasefire between Israeli and Palestinians.
.08 August 9th: A Palestinian suicide assassin blows himself up in a pizzeria in Jerusalem into the air and drags 15 persons along into the death. Israel's answer consists in still more military attacks and liquidations of single persons in West Jordan Area and the Gazastrip. In addition, it closes the Orient House in Eastern Jerusalem, seat of the unofficial State Department of the Palestinians.
.09 September 11th (9/11): Two large-capacity-aircrafts fly in a minute distance into ever one tower of the New York World Trade Center. These attacks are part of four airplane-attacks of the Al-Quaida against the USA in this morning. Another airplane hit the Pentagon in Washinton. A fourth machine is taken to the fall by the resistance of the passengers before it can be steered by the terrorists, as planned presumably, into the Capitol or the White House.
September 12th: Israel moves forward with tanks in Palestinian towns in the autonomous area and destroys facilities of the safetystrengths Arafats. A planned meeting between Secretary of State Peres and Arafat doesn't take place at the instigation of the Israeli Prime Minister Sharon.
September 18th: The Palestinian leader Arafat announces a one-sided armistice. Israel orders a retreat of his troops from the autonomous zones after that.
September 22nd: The violinist Isaac Stern dies in New York, 81 years oldly.
.10 October 17th: The murder of the Israeli tourism secretary Zeevi leads to a broad venture of the Israeli Army to West Jordan Area. Several Palestinian towns, so Bethlehem, are occupied. The action pulls heavy American criticism on herself which, however, remains without effect.
.12 December 1st: two Hamas-suicide-assassins ignite her explosive devices in a street café in the Jerusalem pedestrian precinct. 12 people die. 180 people are injured, under them Elad Segev. Israel declares Yasser Arafat the directly person responsible and reacts with air raids on Gaza and other towns.
